South Sea Pearl Necklaces

Pearl necklaces and strands are ubiquitous with sophistication and luxury. Our range consists of long akoya pearl strands which can be layered to mixed pearl, mixed pearl shapes and coloured strands, right through to the classic round pearl strand. Aquarian Pearls specialise in colourful precious gemstone, sapphire jewellery and pearl necklaces. Each piece is unique as the gemstones are selected to complement the colours and shapes of the pearls in each piece. We have a large collection of South Sea White, Gold, Tahitian Pearl Strands and black pearl necklaces, not all can be featured on our website, please contact us to discuss the options we have in store.

Our Pearl Necklaces

When creating a south sea cultured pearl graduated necklace, we select the centre pearl first for its colour and lustre and size and shape, and then we select the shoulder pearls gradually tapering back in size to the end pearls on the necklace that will meet at the clasp. All pearls must be perfectly matched for shape and colour and lustre.

When creating uniform size necklaces, all pearls must match for size, shape, colour and lustre. The freeform shape of Baroque pearl necklaces make them extremely popular in modern jewellery design, and are in high demand among designers. Size varies in pearl necklaces and usually in graduated necklaces there is a three to five millimetre spread from smallest to largest pearl. The majority of Australian pearl necklaces are 12 to 15 millimetres, and 11 to 13 millimetres. In our collection we also have pearl strands from 15 to 19 millimetres.

Gold Pearl Necklace

Gold pearl necklaces offer a fusion of classic elegance and modern luxury, combining the timeless beauty of pearls with the warm glow of gold. These necklaces come in various styles, featuring pearls that are either naturally gold or have been treated to achieve this stunning hue. Golden pearl strands from the Philippines tend to be 10 – 12 or 13 millimetres but we do stock larger sizes such as 13 to 15 millimetres and above. They have a beautiful rich dark golden colour and super strong lustre and like Australian pearls come in round, oval, button, circled and baroque shapes.

Black Pearl Necklaces

Black pearl necklaces come in various styles to suit different preferences and occasions. Black pearls, despite their name, come in a range of colours, and their hues are often referred to as overtones. Tahitian pearl necklaces are much smaller and average between 8 to 10, and 8 to 11 millimetres. There is such a variety of colours within the world of Tahitian pearls that one can choose necklaces of green, blue, platinum, peacock, cherry red, pistachio, and chocolate brown. The majority of Tahitian pearl strands are round, oval or circle shaped.

Mens Pearl Necklaces

At Aquarian Pearls we also have mens pearl necklaces. Men’s pearl necklaces often feature pearls from various types, including Akoya pearls, Tahitian pearls, South Sea pearls, and freshwater pearls. Each type offers unique characteristics in terms of size, colour, and lustre.

FAQs

Our South Sea cultured pearl necklaces are designed by selecting the centre pearl first, based on its colour, lustre, size, and shape. For those looking for something more modern, Baroque or circle pearl necklaces, with their freeform shapes, are popular for contemporary jewellery designs. Large, round shaped pearl necklaces can sometimes take years to find pearls to match the pearls in the necklace to create the perfect uniform colours, grade and sizes. Most necklaces graduate is size, the centre pearl being the largest and then reducing in size as the pearls move towards the back of the necklace.

The size of pearls in our necklaces varies depending on the style and the type of pearl used to create the necklace. The most common pearl type we supply are Australian South Sea pearl necklaces, with the most popular necklace size worn measure between 9 to 11mm, however we also do supply 12 to 15 millimetres or 11 to 13 millimetres. Additionally, we offer pearl strands ranging from 15 to 19 millimetres for those who prefer larger statement pieces. This is also typical for Tahitian Pearls and South Sea Golden Pearls. The standard length of these necklaces is 45cm. However, we also have a range of longer necklaces, and we can also customise the length of the strand to suit the size you are after.

Aquarian Pearls also stocks a range of Japanese Akoya Pearl Necklaces, these generally start at 7mm in size and can range up to 10mm. These are a great alternative to South Sea Pearls if you are seeking a smaller pearl necklace.
