First Location Photoshoot

This month Aquarian Pearls had our very first location photoshoot. With a growing demand for Aquarian Pearls to make finished jewellery rather than supply loose pearls, We have found ourselves predominantly creating pearl jewellery. Due to the lack of travel this year we are unable to show our clients our products,  the next best thing is to provide great images of the goods. We have fantastic images of the products on their own however seeing them on a model is the best way for customers to see how the piece looks like on and get a feel of the jewellery.

The task of creating a look book was a bit daunting, and not something we have done before so it was a great learning experience and an exciting one at that.

We took the team to the Northern Beaches of Sydney to the beautiful Palm Beach, which was a gorgeous backdrop for our first photoshoot. We hired a waterfront home called Barrenjoey Beach House, which had amazing natural light and scenery for us to use.

Not really knowing how to execute our photoshoot, we started by hiring a Photographer, Jason McCormack, a friend of ours. Once we told him what look we were trying to achieve we then set out to find a model to wear our jewellery. We found the amazing Rachel Bardsley, who is not only naturally beautiful, but a professional in her craft. Rachel made our job on the day incredibly easy, as she just knew what to do.

Next was hair and make up. We have previously used Simona Janek for our professional head shots and company photos, which are stunning. So it was easy to ask Simona to do all the hair and make up for Rachel and all the extras.

For the day we had envisioned a series of look book images with a model, but we also wanted photographs that we could use for events such as Christmas, and Mother’s Day, which included lifestyle photographs of friends enjoying themselves. For these images we asked friends and family to be a part of shots. This wasn’t a hard task getting volunteers when the brief was to sit at a waterfront home, eat and drink, have your hair and make-up done and wear lots of jewellery!

Our gorgeous friends posing for photos!

We then asked an amazing caterer, Table over Platters, to provide the food and styling for the day, which turned out incredibly.

We shot over 1,000 images, over the whole day. The images we have produced will role out over the next 12 months on our social media platforms and will also appear on our website.

We had an incredibly fun day and we hope you enjoy the pictures!…here are some behind the scenes for you.
